STRESS AS AN EXAMPLE OF A PSYCHOBIOLOGICAL PROCESS

Define and explain the difference between eustress and distress with an example for each. 4 marks.
Explain how the following may be sources of stress (1 mark each)
- daily pressures
- life events
- acculturative stress
- major stress
- catastrophes


STRESS AS A BIOLOGICAL PROCESS
Explain the fight-flight-freeze response. 3 marks.
What is the role of cortisol in stress? 3 marks.
Explain Selye's General Adaptation Syndrome. 9 marks. Include a general definition, a definition for each stage (including sub-stages if relevant) and what occurs in each stage.
Identify two strengths and two limitations of Selye's model. 4 marks.


STRESS AS A PSYCHOLOGICAL PROCESS
Define Lazarus and Folkman's Transactional Model of Stress and Coping. 1 mark.
Explain the difference between primary and secondary appraisal and the characteristics of each.  7 marks.
Identify two strengths and two limitations of the model. 4 marks.
DIAGRAM - Make a diagram explaining their model. There is one on page 180. 

Define coping and coping strategy. 2 marks.
Define context-specific effectiveness. 1 mark.
Define coping flexibility and three abilities that people have who are flexible. 4 marks.
Define and explain how exercise may be use to cope with stress. 4 marks. (Definition plus three ways it helps).
Define and explain the difference between approach and avoidance coping strategies with 2 examples of both. 7 marks. 

With explain the difference - define both terms and then have a sentence explaining the difference =  3 marks.
